We arrived to Doha, after our 13-hour flight, and headed straight to the customer service desk. As mentioned in a previous post, our layover was supposed to be 4 hours but got extended to 12 hours, and we were told the Qatar Airlines would provide us with a hotel room.

As promised, a very nice room was provided in the Oryx Garden Hotel which is actually inside the airport. Therefore, we didn’t need to go through customs, or go through security to take our flight to Amman.

The Hamad International Airport is the most amazing, over-the-top, airport we’ve ever traveled through. Imagine a super nice modern airport, meets an uber-luxury shopping mall, full of restaurants, an inside arboretum, and a terminal train to whisk you around. We dropped our bags in our room, got some dinner at Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant using vouchers that they provided, and got 5 hours of sleep before our 2:00am wakeup call to get to our gate for our flight to Amman.

We will visit Doha again at the end of our trip, for three nights.
