Middle East

Seeing the Pyramids had been on Marshall’s bucket list for as long as we could remember. We finally got to visit Egypt and its multiple UNESCO World Heritage sites, where we saw some of the oldest and most incredible archaeological finds and antiquities on the planet. This part of our trip included both land and river travel.

Before Egypt, we spent time in Jordan and caught some of the sites we had missed on the 2024 World Cruise (thanks to itinerary changes caused by the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea). We knew this part of the world was unsettled, but we kept close tabs on the U.S. State Department advisories, the news, and even social media posts from travelers there at the time. Everything pointed to safe conditions, so off we went! Marshall happily dubbed it “The Indiana Jones Tour,” and it really lived up to the name.

After Egypt, we made our way to Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, checking off more spots we hadn’t been able to see on the World Cruise. Finally, we wrapped things up in Doha, Qatar—our last stop—before flying home.

We shared updates on Instagram @mageesonthego along the way, and we so appreciated everyone who followed along with us. What an adventure the Middle East turned out to be!
