Kailua-Kona, Big Island, HI, USA
Today we visited the Big Island and specifically Kailua-Kona. This small town does not have a dock big enough to handle our ship, so we tendered to shore using small tender boats. As the seas had big swells today, loading and unloading took extra time so it took a while to get off the ship. Once ashore, we walked around and had lunch at Fish Hopper. The steeple in several photos is the Moku‘aikaua Church, founded in 1820 and considered the first Christian church in the Hawaiian islands. We enjoyed seeing the Banyan trees and did a little shopping.
The bright blue bird skies are so attractive and inviting! Love the canopy of a banyan tree! Cheers to a great weekend ahead!
Colorful! Banyan tree like the one in Maui they were watering to save it. Cool tree!
Looks really awesome!
So wonderful being able to go along with you❤️
Thanks for sharing:)
Love your umbrella drinks!
Enjoying the voyage with you….we love the Big Island…..more what we assumed as “old Hawaii”…more open spaces, agriculture, and less development…..we were there during volcanic activity (similar to Galapagos)….the lava flows into the sea were amazing to watch!
The last time we were here we saw the lava flow into the ocean!! So thunderous!
Love those umbrella drinks. Have one for me!
