This has got to be one of the prettiest ports in Europe and we were excited to be back. When we were here in March 2025, it was cold and the town was preparing for their Easter celebrations. Today, the sun was shining and warm, families were out strolling on a Sunday, and there was a cycle race in town with lots of supporters and vendors. There is a large marina next to the ship pier and it makes for a wonderful introduction to the old town.

We walked the main street from the port, past the Heroes Plaza and the famous clock tower. This town of 212,000 inhabitants is a mix of old and new architecture. There are Roman ruins, blocks of early Spanish baroque and a few soviet style buildings sprinkled in. Somehow, it all works together. The main street is pedestrian only, lined with beautiful tiles, which makes a wonderful atmosphere for towns people and tourists alike. We enjoyed walking through the town again, and stopped for a coffee and soda along the way to people watch.

The rest of the group were all doing their own exploring. Cathy went on a Princess tour to an Andalusian horse ranch. Ari and Soeren were climbing up to a fortress. Kathryn and Kevin were going through a museum. And Mike and Peter were each exploring the old city.

We all met for lunch at Restaurante Cuarenta y tres 43, which offered some interesting and local delicacies like pork shoulder, tuna tataki, octopus and squid. The sail-away was lovely with beautiful skies and striking landscapes, plus a sweet little lighthouse.

Tomorrow: Sea Day
