Despite the gorgeous weather and many persons still using the beach, we’ve witnessed Tossa shutting down for the season. Today we watched the harbormaster bring in all of the moored boats and buoys. They get the boat to the edge and hook it to a winch that starts pulling it up on the sand. They use cylinders to move the boat into position up on the beach. By the end of the day, all of the boats were out. It kind of reminded us of our time in Skaneateles, New York, when the tourists would be gone for the season, the boats pulled from the lake, and preparing for the winter ahead. Similar to Skaneateles, we’ve been told that Tossa has a population of 6K, but swells to 10K in the summer.

Sharon’s new knees were begging for a down day, so Marshall and Peter headed to explore more of the town. Unlike Skaneateles, there are many restaurants that have been boarded up for the season. Despite, they were able to find a good lunch place and enjoy the last of the season. To Marshall’s delight, they found a cat and he was able to have a little pet time. Peter shared some photos from their walk.

We had dinner at a familiar restaurant in our neighborhood, Bellas, with another terrific meal.

Tomorrow: Last day in Tossa
