We crossed the international dateline last night and we lost Wednesday. We went from Tuesday, to Thursday, by crossing a line in the middle of the ocean. It wreaked havoc on our phones and computers, as many files and photos were listed as being created or modified in the future. So weird.

Once we docked in Apia, Samoa this morning, we were able to resync everything and well, for now, we seem to know what day it is.

We learned today that Samoa, not to be confused with American Samoa, used to be on the east side of the dateline, but decided in 2009 to change to the west side to align with New Zealand and Australia. American Samoa remains on the east side of the dateline, in line with the U.S.

I don’t miss the chaos of time change, but man, do I miss cruising!
