Going to the Chapel
Today we went to a wedding! Actually, it was a vows renewal between Tim and Mary Pehonsky, new friends we’ve met onboard, to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Let me tell you, these two are love birds and their devotion to each other is pretty special. Tim will have a kidney removed immediately upon their return to the U.S., due to cancer, and that made this day even more meaningful and touching. There was not a dry eye as Captain Marco led them through their vows. The crew did such a nice job decorating the chapel and attending to everything; lovely music, a beautiful cake, champaign to toast the couple, photographers and gorgeous flowers. We’ve had the great pleasure of getting to know this terrific couple and what a real honor it was to be a part of their special day.
Afterwards, Captain Marco invited all of us to the bridge for a tour. What a surprise and treat that was! Marshall was in his element, talking to the second officer and the captain. We learned that the ship’s navigation is accurate up to 6 inches, as they triangulate from 34 separate satellites, simultaneously. We also learned that they utilize state of the art sonar and radar, yet they also employ two watchguards, constantly scanning the horizon using their powerful binoculars. It’s the one-two punch of new technology with the old-school human touch. Love it!
What a great day it was. Congratulations and best wishes to Mary and Tim!

Of Course you are making friends, and of course , Marsh loved the technology. So cool you got an inside look of the command center.
The ship looks great, I bet Marshall is certainly enjoying his time with learning the technology of the ship. Looks like it was a lovely wedding what fun to be able to attend!
