Ensenada, Mexico
We arrived at noon to Ensenada and with an all-aboard time of 6:30pm, we opted not to do any excursions but instead just walked around a bit and grabbed some lunch. We took the city provided shuttle, for $4 per person roundtrip, into town. We had been given a recommendation for a local cantina and we set off to find it.
Birrieria’s La Guadalajara was established in 1972 and serves lamb, pork, goat and beef tacos. This is a super authentic restaurant; simple but delicious food, great prices and a wonderful atmosphere. We settled in for our tacos and a couple of beers. The taco meat was soooo flavorful. This was easily one of the best meals we’ve had on the trip. A small mariachi band was playing and there were several other tables of passengers and crew from the ship, making it a very festive place.
Afterwards, we walked down the main street, Lazaro Cardenas. There were lots of shops and people selling churros and souvenirs. We caught the shuttle back to the port by mid-afternoon, which gave us some time to start The Pack.
When you’ve been traveling for 4 months, you tend to accumulate some stuff. Getting it all packed in our original luggage was going to take some creative space planning and while we had been getting organized for days, it was time to seriously begin The Pack.

While we were in Ensenada, they had a huge fire in a scrap metal yard. The smoke is much less in this photo which means they've finally got it under control.
Over the course of the trip, we changed time zones more than 25 times. Sharon threw away some of the reminder cards by accident.
