Sea Day, Halloween and a Birthday
The weather continues to improve and warm up. We enjoyed the aft Wake Terrace for a refreshing dip in the pool, and then into the warm tub. We decided it shouldn’t be called a hot tub, though others report that the other hot tubs around the ship are indeed hot. The Wake Terrace is a hidden gem, accessible by two aft panoramic elevators. If you’re cabin is aft, or even mid-aft like ours, it is so easy to just take the hallway to the back of the ship and drop down to Deck 8. There is an infinity pool, flanked by two warm tubs. There are loungers and sling chairs, plus a nicely outfitted bar. The wake made by this big ship is a delight to watch.
In the evening, we celebrated Peter’s birthday. This was a big one for him…and we welcomed him into the Medicare Club with a special dinner, the Caymus Wine Dinner. The food was excellent and the wine from Chuck Wagner’s family matched it well.
There were lots of fun Halloween costumes, both by guests and crew. The most inventive and creative costume was by a woman who realized after she got onboard that she had no costume and so fancied hers using discarded Patters. The Princess Patter is a little newsletter that you get every night to your stateroom, detailing the schedule of events for the next day, and any other important information like time changes, port information, crew spotlights, etc. Anyhow, she took the Patters and made a gorgeous overskirt. It was simply stunning. She named her husband Pitter, and she was of course, Patter. Wow!
